Thanks for stopping by Tony (and thanks for responding to my email as well).

It's great that a company like Viart really listens to customers and interacts with them.

Hi,

Thank you for your review - I think it's well thought out and well written. I have to declare a vested interest - I own part of Viart.

In my experience I have found that most CMS/e-Commerce systems can generate SEO problems.

Some are really bad and will put you into a corner, but to be honest most of these I've come across tend to be 'bespoke' scripts written by less than proficient programmers (or at least programmers who have no interest in SEO!). Most systems can be manipulated to a greater or lesser extent to overcome any shortfall SEO-wise. One example is almost all create canocalization issues by linking to www.domain.com/index.php for example.

We have many clients that enjoy very high rankings and they use the Viart system.

We usually do this as a start:

1. Use 301 redirects to resolve any canocalization issues.

2. Create unique meta tags for each page. We usually "hand" craft main category pages tags and will use some combination of product title and text for detailed pages

3. Set necessary tags in the body of the file.

All of this we are able to do easily in our Viart applications.

With regard to getting those coverted top slots it is, of course, only the start of the process and one of many many things unneeded!

Best Regards, Tony
